Parking at and around Schools.

When parking near schools, the safety of children, parents, and other road users should always be the priority. Consider the following advice:

Before Parking

Observe all road signs, markings, and parking restrictions.

Never park on zig-zag markings outside school entrances. These areas are designed to keep visibility clear for children crossing the road.

Avoid parking on double yellow lines, pavements, crossing points, bus stops, or in front of driveways.

Choose a legal parking space that does not obstruct sightlines for pedestrians or drivers.

While Parked

Ensure your vehicle is fully within the marked bay where applicable.

Switch off the engine if waiting for any length of time to reduce emissions around children.

Check mirrors and blind spots for pedestrians before opening doors.

When Leaving

Be especially vigilant for children who may step into the road unexpectedly.

Drive slowly and be prepared to stop.
